Helping Hungary

          Hungary is not a feeling that occurs between lunch and dinner. Hungary is a country in Eastern Europe that was once a world power. Nowadays, this country is struggling. My desire is to help Hungary see what needs to be corrected within the country. If Hungary is going to return to prominence, eliminating racism and fixing the educational system are two crucial steps.         

First, eradicating racism will help Hungary. Racism still exists in the country. Despite witnessing the Holocaust, which destroyed the country, many Hungarians are still racist towards Jews and Gypsies (Rowlands, 2013). A lot of animosity towards minority groups exists that have the right to live within the borders of the nation. Correcting the issue should start with teaching younger generations to respect others. Also, the leaders of Hungary need to change their views; many leaders are very racist towards the minorities in Hungary (Rowlands, 2013).

Second, the educational system in Hungary is flawed and needs reform. The government has caused trouble by cutting budgets and lowering academic standards (Fuzessi, 2013).  Without proper education, the nation cannot prosper. The current system is very restrictive and is conflicting against European Union protocol (Fuzessi, 2013). Hungary should follow the example of other successful nations and adopt a system that is approved by the European Union.

                Problems with racism and with the educational system are limiting the potential of Hungary. Destroying racism as well as properly educating Hungarians will increase success in the country. The government needs to change as well as the citizens. If these two things occur, Hungary will succeed.
